How to help your newborn gain weight.

Hey Mamas and Papas
My elder sister had premature twins weighing 4 pounds each.
She had a hard time raising them but now both of them are super healthy teens.
Even my baby was underweight. His birth weight was 5 pounds. But now after 7 weeks he is 9 pounds :)
Below are some tips which were both used by me and my elder sister

Note:- We arent any medical experts. And every child is different. These tips are based on personal experience. Kindly follow on your own risk.

#1 Waking baby up for feeds.
New borns tend to sleep more during the first few weeks of life.  But if your baby is underweight you should wake him up for feeds. Feed him every two hours or whenever he wants, whichever is earlier.

#2 Coconut Oil massage.
Coconut oil is very beneficial for underweight babies, i used to massage my baby 3 to 4 times everyday with pure coconut oil. A study proves that babies who were massaged 4 times a day with coconut oil tend to gain more weight than babies massaged with mineral oil.

#3 Breastfeed your baby, ofcourse.
While formula milk doesn't hurt on gaining weight,  it is best to give your baby breast milk. Skin to skin contact while breastfeeding improves weight gain. If the baby doesnt latch or some other circumstances makes it difficult for you to breastfeed him,  consider exclusively pumping then.

#4 Pump after feeding
Chances are high that your baby had foremilk instead of high fat hindmilk, pump after feeding your baby and store the hindmilk in refrigerator for next feed. This way you can supplement with your own milk.

Thats all you can do for your baby's weight gain. Give it time. Everything is going to be fine.  :)

Mee Mee Universal Steam Steriliser Review

Hello Mamas and Papas..

I always dreamt of being a beauty blogger, i even used to post for a blog when i was 14 years old but then things changed and i ended up being a home maker, i didnt even completed my study and my whole life changed.
I never expected a tragic change. All i did was fall in love with a guy and get married early but i hardly saw any happiness in my life after that.
But still i don't wanna give up yet. I am gonna be a blogger mumma.
And today i am going to review Mee Mee's Universal Steam Steriliser.

It's priced ₹2899 in India.

How to use:-

Product features:-

 The steriliser includes-
A holder to hold hot bottles after sterilising

A measuring cup to meausure water

A bottle post which holds 2 bottles at a time,  and is removable for ansa and different shaped bottles

My experience:- Sterilising bottles is a big work. While everyone here prefers the old boiling method, some mummas dont have time to go to the kitchen,  bring out utensil, fill in water, wait for it to reach the boiling point, add bottles then again wait 3 minutes for the sterilising process.
Mee Mee Steam steriliser is a very easy and handy product to sterilise Bottles, Teats, Pacifiers and much more.

You just have to fill the heating plate with one tube of fresh water, turn on the plug, press the start button and play with your little one for 10 minutes. And tada your work is done.
Cleaning the product after use is also easy,  just take a dry cloth and wipe the insides.
The only problem i faced using this is that i cannot sterilise my breast pump in the accessory tray because it has less space.
Otherwise it is a very nice and handy product for sterilising.

Ups:-
*Less Work
*Easy
*Sterilises in less time compared to boiling method
*No need to go to kitchen,  can keep this in room

Downs:-
*Pricey
*Cant sterilise pumps or other big things because of small space
*The transparent lid should be carefully handled, i dont think its shatter-proof.

I wouldnt recommend this if u need to sterilise your pump or other big stuffs because of the small accessory tray, but if you are formula feeding and just need a steriliser for bottles, teats, pacifiers and other small stuff then this is perfect for you.

Available:- Online and in Little Shop Outlets.

A new beginning of my life...

My life has been a rollercoaster. Which has more downs than up. I got married and pregnant at the age of 18.
After carrying my baby for 9 months in my womb,  waiting each day to carry him in my arm,  i gave birth to a handsome boy weighing 5 pounds on 27th january via c-section.
Me and my husband were on 7th sky and then the next day we came to know that the baby hasn't passed his first stool yet and needs to admitted to the NICU for two days. The hospital in which i was admitted didnt have a NICU so my baby was shifted to an NICU nearby. I cried and waved him good-bye.
And the next day i was told that my baby has Imperforate Anus.

I was totally clueless about this,  i couldnt even imagine in my worst nightmare that this thing exists.
My boy's life was in danger,  he could have been died because 30 hours has passed and he hadn't excreted yet.
But on 29th of january a colostomy was performed (The colon was brought out through a cut in the abdominal wall) and he was saved.
After 3 days i was asked to pump and send the milk to the NICU.
My husband didnt showed me the baby's pictures and didnt take me to the NICU because he was afraid i might faint seeing my baby in that condition.
But luckily the doctor called me on the day before discharge to teach my how to care for the colostomy.
I saw my baby after 10 days, he didnt looked the same. He had I.V in his right hand, was placed in a warmer and had a red fleshy thing on the left side of his stomach.
I was devastated to see all this. All i did was cry. I wanted to run away from all this and never come back.
I had to wash hands and sanitize them every time before touching him.
We came back home with him. And had a very tough time handling him. He used to poop every half an hour. We had to clean it with wet cotton, apply a cream around the stoma, place a stoma shaped gauze on it and then put a clean and light cloth on it.  He wasnt given a colostomy bag.
He couldn't latch on my breast because he was bottle fed for 6 days and made a habit of it. So being a super mom i decided not to give up and to exclusively pump.
Days passed,  my Baby is now 7 weeks, and i get used to the colostomy thing.
Still somewhere i feel alone and restless,  so i started this blog so i can speak whatever i feel like and help and support some more restless moms like me.
I hope you guys will stand with me in my most tragic time and bless me with love.

With Love,
Mrs Maan.
